Before the exhibitions and the time in between, I will set up a treasure hunt environment for the audience, and announce this on my blog and facebook page. I will hide several codes and parts of my artwork to be found on the road, in the city, at a parking lot, somewhere... for the audience to be found...
Whoever finds one of the codes and / or gifts, can post a selfie of this on my blog or on my facebook page to claim his reward at the vernissage, when I will “operate” on the sculptures. I will “surgically” remove the books during a live performance.
At this point, the books are already a witness of the creative production process... Once removed, they will get an extra dimension as I will cut out pages and also add new elements during the course of the exhibition... The founders get to select their reward: they can each choose a page from the book, signed by me. Their selfie will also be added and becomes a part of the books and sculptures.
During the exhibition, these books will be on display for the audience, alongside the sculptures. There will also be the possibility to take your selfie with the book and /sculpture / artist, which will then be added to the book before it is placed back inside the sculpture.
At the finissage, I will "transplant" the books back into the belly of the sculptures, containing the new elements... Much like an organ that was temporarily removed and is now placed back into its body. Like a transplantation... To rest there for ever.
Placed back, the books have become a time document of the sculpture but also of the audience and their interaction.
